What is a Mawile's Horn? (Your Opinion).

You opinion.
What is a Mawile's Horn? (Your Opinion).
I was thinking about what a mawile's jaws are:
Whether they are Sentient and have a separate brain (Like the ledgend of futakuchi-onna - which the mawile is based on) or not.
Also what can they be used for:
Whether they are a fully functional mouth (which can eat, breath and speak through).
A partly functional mouth (can only do one or two of the above).
Or whether they aren't a mouth at all and can only be used to bite things.
What's your ideas of what it's capable of?
I think it's a sentient being which can eat and breath and can also speak but only to its host mawile (via telepathy).

To be honest, I've always wondered that myself...

I dont realy see it being sentient but I think it is full ly functional.
Girafarig on the other hand with its tail... I think it could easyly be sentiate and fullly functional.

I don't think it's sentient, because I have trouble seeing a pokemon with more than one brain ( except the obvious ones like that 2 head bird thing I don't remember the name of ) To me, it seems to be an organ that is controlled by the Mawile and I'm sure it's fully functional. It wouldn't make sense to me that it was given a mouth so developed without it being fully usable. No creature needs an heavy weight good only for biting. I can see a lot of uses to that appendage, many of which have been demonstrated in comics and images I have seen over the net.

Girafarig's tail is said to have a small brain of it's own. Not sure about sentience but possible.
As for Mawile, I don't think those jaw-like horns are sentient. I'm not quite sure how it could eat and pass through the skull either to get to the stomach. According to the Pokedex (if my memory is right) the horns are to intimidate other Pokemon.

I think it could technically have some kind of hole in the back of its skull with a passage leading to the normal esophagus. Sure, it's a bit twisted for an anatomy, but it's possible.
